Yes, I've Heard About The New Assisi Thing

See here for what I'm talking about.

No, I don't like it. I'm hoping that it doesn't happen, or if it does, in a manner radically different from what we've seen in the past.

Why do you object to people of all faiths getting along and being nonjudgmental?

Let me first say that I don't object to anyone getting along.

Being nonjudgmental is a bit of a dangerous prospect when considered in light of eternal salvation. These other religions are false. We have an obligation to proclaim the True Faith. Doing things that blur these lines between Truth and falsity create the impression that all religions are equal.

Holding formal events with the purpose of asking them to pray to their false gods is even worse and seems to run contrary to the First Commandment.

Basically, it all comes off with a lot of scandal and doesn't seem to do anything to further the Church's primary mission, which is the salvation of souls.

By the way, thank you for checking out the blog. I hope that you'll keep stopping by.

Name me all these false gods please. Are not they the name of "God" using a different word? The way I see it you are dangerous being judgmental. Do you believe in the New Testament? Or are you stuck in the old? Jesus was a Jew and he was trying very hard to make us understand that we are not the ones to be judging, God is. Al religions ARE equal as far as human rights are concerned. Have you read A NEW EARTH by Eckhart Tolle yet? And you shouldn't sit there in judgment of it until you understand the Ego and it's place in most righteous religions.

I haven't read A New Earth, mostly because Oprah Winfrey said it was good. If I agreed to read it and post a review here, would you be willing to stick around and discuss it?

False gods would be any entity that is not the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

If one applies different labels to describe God, that is separate from whether or not the thing being labeled is God. I can call Vishnu "God" but since Vishnu is not the Trinity, that label would be an error.

I believe very much in the New Testament. The significance of Christ as the only way to salvation and the need to convert Jews, pagans, and others from their errors is spelled out very clearly there. Naturally, for the Apostles and other followers of Christ to convert these people, they had to point out their errors. This is not being judgmental. This is following the command of Christ Himself before He ascended into heaven.

I don't understand your point about all religions being equal as far as human rights are concerned. My immediate response is that they clearly aren't equal even in that base aspect because most religions have very different conceptions of what human rights are to begin with.
