I had to travel a lot this week. While doing so, I made the mistake of listening to talk and news radio. While doing so, I heard at least two very popular talk show hosts discuss the current conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians. The only reasonable interpretation of their words was that the Israelis should purposefully target civilians. The actual words were along the lines of "How did the British react to the bombing of England? Carpet bombing!!!"
And then we get places like Dresden thrown out as examples to follow.
Holy smokes.
Have we really gotten to this point where we can publicly advocate the killing of civilians by foreign powers?
I offer this nugget of wisdom from Batman Begins as a refutation of this view:
Henri Ducard: Your compassion is a weakness your enemies will not share.
Bruce Wayne: That's why it's so important. It separates us from them.
Amen, Bruce. Amen.
